چکیده

In this paper, we combine Kazhdan’s FFT-based approach to surface reconstruction from oriented points with adaptive subdivision and partition of unity blending techniques. The advantages of our surface reconstruction method include a more robust surface restoration in regions where the surface bends close to itself and a lower memory consumption. The latter allows us to achieve a higher reconstruction accuracy than the original global approach. Furthermore, our reconstruction process is guided by a global error control achieved by computing the Hausdorff distance of selected input samples to intermediate reconstruc-

Error-guided adaptive Fourier-based surface reconstruction

In this paper, we propose to combine Kazhdan’s FFT-based approach to surface reconstruction from oriented points with adaptive subdivision and partition of unity blending techniques. This removes the main drawback of the FFT-based approach which is a high memory consumption for geometrically complex datasets. This allows us to achieve a higher reconstruction accuracy compared with the original ...

Block-Based Compressive Sensing Using Soft Thresholding of Adaptive Transform Coefficients

Compressive sampling (CS) is a new technique for simultaneous sampling and compression of signals in which the sampling rate can be very small under certain conditions. Due to the limited number of samples, image reconstruction based on CS samples is a challenging task. Most of the existing CS image reconstruction methods have a high computational complexity as they are applied on the entire im...

Modal Fourier Wavefront Reconstruction Using FPGA Technology

Atmospheric turbulence introduces optical aberration into wavefronts arriving at ground-based telescopes. The wavefront reconstruction using fast Fourier transforms (FFT) and spatial filtering is computationally tractable and sufficiently accurate in large Shack-Hartmann-based adaptive optics systems (up to 10,000 actuators). A first design has been developed using a Graphical Processing Units ...

Experimental validation of Fourier-transform wave-front reconstruction at the Palomar Observatory.

Wave-front reconstruction with use of the Fourier transform has been validated through theory and simulation. This method provides a dramatic reduction in computational costs for large adaptive (AO) systems. Because such a reconstructor can be expressed as a matrix, it can be used as an alternative in a matrix-based AO control system. This was done with the Palomar Observatory AO system on the ...

Fast wave-front reconstruction in large adaptive optics systems with use of the Fourier transform.

Wave-front reconstruction with the use of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and spatial filtering is shown to be computationally tractable and sufficiently accurate for use in large Shack-Hartmann-based adaptive optics systems (up to at least 10,000 actuators). This method is significantly faster than, and can have noise propagation comparable with that of, traditional vector-matrix-multiply rec...
